WASPA report of December 2016

Dear all,

first of all, happy new year. I really hope all your dreams will come true in 2016. All the best in your private life, your job, your studies and of course in your Subbuteo career :-)

2015 has been a great year with many events played in many countries. More importantly, FISTF and WASPA are working together and helping each other.

The last event in Switzerland
You will see in the attached files the updated rankings, results and statistics. We have 1636 players in the Open ranking and 41 nations are represented. We have hope to see improvements in the near future. There are Subbuteo fans in many countries and hopefully we will have more events in more new places in the near future.

In December we had some great events in several national. In total, 17 regional tournaments and 3 tournaments with the old rules have been organized under WASPA banner and 27 players made their first WASPA appearance.

The first tournament in Thessaloniki
The USA had a fantastic week-end perfectly run by Paul Eyes. The Maryland hosts had competitors travelling from several US States such as Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania,... and great winners (Daniel Cranston on Saturday, Zach Walker on Sunday).

Austria welcomed the second representative of Afghanistan in a tournament in Vienna.

Regular organizers such as Dundee United (Scotland), Melbourne and Brisbane (Australia), Firenze (Italy), Lincoln (England), S Flanders and Warcoing (Belgium), Jurong Central (Singapore) and the Linth Sliders (Switzerland) held good tournaments. Verviers and the "Etoile Sarthoise" in Belgium held their 2nd tournaments with very good turnouts of 14 and 12.

We were happy to see the first tournament in Thessaloniki (Greece) and Volos might be the next Greek city to host WASPA events.

Italy is still very active in the old rules circuit with events organized in Florence, Pistoia and Catanzaro.

Huge turnout in Singapore
We were also happy to see players from Australia and Hong Kong attending tournaments in Singapore.

Remember the circuit is yours so your ideas to improve the WASPA circuit are more than welcome. Don't hesitate to send your proposals to my e-mail address at vincent.cop@rsca.com

Don't hesitate to ask for WASPA status if you are hosting some events. Remember you only need three (3) players to have the WASPA status. Just send a tournament request to vincent.cop@rsca.com

Please note the blog is updated almost every day at http://waspa-circuit.blogspot.com

The FISTF website is http://www.fistf.com

Have a fantastic year 2016 and keep on flicking the plastic!

Yours in sport,

Vincent Coppenolle
