"World Cup" tournament in Templeuve

This saturday the Templeuve United club in Belgium hosted their "World Cup" tournament with a great field of 19 players.

The event was also organized to celebrate the visit of Erza Aripin, a player from Singapore who has played for the Templeuve club for the last 10 years.

Players were dropped in four groups and there were many good games in the first round. The surprise was Renald Deloose being third of his group after a severe defeat against Aripin (0-3).

Ludovic Marain vs Kimberley Devreese

In the quart-finals, the logic was respected. Ludovic Marain, who just started playing again after a break of several years, beat Alain Flament to qualify for the semis.

In the semis, there was no mercy from Geoffrey Marain for his younger brother while Vincent Coppenolle surprisingly beat Jos Ceulemans in the sudden death.

In the final, Marain took the lead twice but Coppenolle equalized twice and won the sudden death. At the end of the day, every player had six or seven games and it was geat to see two new players and some people back to the game. Jean-Luc Platiaux won the consolation tournament. Congratulations to all.
